Welcome to Appalachian State University! We're pleased to have you join our academic community and are excited about the unique perspectives and expertise you bring. 

Our orientation program is crafted to support you in understanding our institution's culture, policies, and procedures. During our 1.5-day New Faculty Orientation event, you will learn about administrative processes, teaching resources, research opportunities, and professional development. Additionally, our programming offers insights into our vibrant campus life, community engagement initiatives, and the various support services available to you. Human Resources also offers a separate New Employee Orientation that introduces you to important aspects of your employment at App State such as benefits, institutional structure, employee perks, and more. We encourage all new faculty to take advantage of both orientations for maximum support and preparation.

New faculty will begin receiving communications about these orientations and other resources in late June.  If you have signed a faculty contract (either full- or part-time) and have not heard from us by July 1, please email our Director of Career Support and Mentoring, Tracy Smith (smtihtw@appstate.edu) to get connected.
