Appalachian State University is committed to providing a high-quality, inclusive online education to a diverse student population. CETLSS supports faculty and departments in their efforts to do that with world-class professional development aimed at better, more humanized online teaching.
So, what's new lately in Online at CETLSS? After nearly three years of pandemic learning, we've all learned a lot of new technology fast to meet the emergency need. Now it's time to slow down and assess how to actually teach online well - how to be choosy with our technology, how to build more authentic connections with students (even in totally asynchronous settings), and how to take care better care of ourselves as instructors as we're doing it.
How do we do that? Try our latest offering, "A Tale of the Tail and Dog: Humanizing Your Online Learning for Your Students AND You" - to see if your technology "tail" is wagging your dog (reach out to Rachel Clark at clarkre2@appstate.edu if you or your department would like additional sessions on this).
We also have two exciting new grant opportunities and a re-envisioned Online Teaching Community for more ongoing online teaching support, with a newly staffed Online Teaching and Learning Team ready to help you take your online and hybrid teaching to the next level. See below.
In addition, we always of course offer you and your program an ongoing relationship with one of our highly-trained Instructional Design Specialists, all of whom care passionately about your students' and your online success. Our first-class center will help you stay ahead of the curve, as it has its roots in one of the first centers to exist in the nation.
We'll watch for you!
