Part II: Subtle Acts of Exclusion: How to Understand, Identify, & Stop Microaggressions Book Study

Although unintentional, we have all committed subtle acts of exclusion (SAE, a.k.a. microaggressions) which can alienate our colleagues, students, and friends. These actions and phrases often go unaddressed and are harmful. Join us in learning how to spot and address stereotypes, objectification, and other forms of microaggressions that separate instead of uniting.

Infusing Creativity Through Arts-Based Practices

You will hear about how they have infused creativity through the use of arts-based practices (ABP) into their pedagogy and scholarship, and how ABP has enabled them to establish a sustainable wellness routine. Organizing for Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences

Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) provide students with the opportunity to both engage in hands-on research and develop career-related, transferable skills (ex. teamwork). These classes also help to increase retention in STEAM fields and improve equitable access to research opportunities. Developing thoughtfully designed CUREs requires identifying: 1) a research question that can be translated to an undergraduate classroom, 2) the skills that students will engage in, and 3) methods to report their findings to the broader scientific community (ex. publications).
