Building Reflection into STEM AppLC

Students in STEM classes know they are solving difficult problems, yet they are often less aware of the complex analytical skills that they simultaneously acquire. Furthermore, many traditional STEM assignments favor computational approaches, which may encourage students to focus on memorization and imitation thereby avoiding conceptual connections vital to STEM learning. Student reflection makes this higher-order thinking visible and strengthens connections and expertise across courses and disciplines.

The Digital Design and Fabrication Learning Community is a group of faculty and staff exploring the professional and educational use of computer aided design (CAD) and digital fabrication hardware used for three-dimensional design, visualization, fabrication. Prior to 2022, the group was called Generative Design and focused solely on the use of Rhino3D and Grasshopper3D, and was composed of Fine Arts and Applied Design Faculty and Staff.

Done this before, but heard about our new 'Metagroup Sync' tool and want to use it? Attend this webinar and learn to use the "course meta link" to combine enrollments from multiple sections or courses into ONE AsULearn course site, while still being about to sort your grade book by section, and send announcements to separate sections if needed, and use group overrides to control release times of the same activities based on section (group).
