The theme of my research agenda is the diversification of higher education which I pursue through explorations of the experiences of Students, Faculty, and Staff of Color. Primarily, I use qualitative methods to document the faculty experience and make recommendations for institutional leaders to create faculty diversity through recruitment and retention. My program serves graduate students in online and in person delivery at certificate, master’s, and doctoral levels. I am a member of the Reich College of Education Mentoring Guild and seek to be a resource for new and continuing faculty members as they pursue professional and personal success and growth. I have felt extremely supported during my time at AppState and it is one of the main reasons I continue to work here and engage in university initiatives. The pandemic interrupted much of my community building efforts and highlighted my desire for connection in and around the university. Faculty work can easily become an all-encompassing pursuit, so having folks around to help you cultivate hobbies or pull you out of the work for a bit can help us resist burnout.
