Katie Lail, University Program Associate, Mental Health First Aid Instructor

Katie Lail is responsible for supporting the Center of Excellence in Teaching and Learning to ensure student success. Her duties include planning and monitoring the program's budget, assisting in its development, and coordinating program-related conferences, meetings, or workshops. In addition, she manages the program's daily operations and supports the center's needs.
Katie has been working at AppState for three years and previously worked with the Institute for Health and Human Services. She moved to Boone with her husband, who is an AppState employee and an adjunct professor teaching sections in a first-year seminar. Katie and her husband welcomed their first child, Jackson, in February 2023, and they enjoy exploring the Appalachians with their son and two dogs.
Before joining Appalachian State University, Katie lived in Colorado and served in the military for eight years. She has a background in behavioral health services and is a certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid for adults and Youth Mental Health First Aid.
