Religious & Cultural Observances

This calendar is not a comprehensive list of all religious and cultural observances, but it includes dates of particular significance to some traditions represented on our campus. Holy days may fall on different dates from year to year. Dates of holy day observances may also vary by geographic region and by cultural practices of different groups. Note that some holidays are observed beginning at sundown the day before, thus restricting work and travel. For example, the first two and last two days of Passover are typically observed as full holy days, with restrictions on work and travel. However, many extended Jewish families gather for the holiday, and consequently some Jewish students may miss other days as well, and possibly the entire week of classes. Please talk with your students or those you supervise to be sensitive to their particular religious practices and needs.
