The following affinity groups, or faculty and staff associations, are just one of the resources Appalachian provides for underrepresented faculty and staff.
App Unidos
App Unidos is dedicated to issues of importance to the Hispanic/Latino community on campus and in the local and state communities, while providing a networking opportunity for colleagues.
Asian Pacific Islander Caucus
The Asian Pacific Islander Caucus seeks to represent all Asian and Pacific Islander faculty and staff across the UNC System. All faculty and staff of any race or ethnicity are welcome. Their four primary purposes are to promote: Awareness, Education, Advocacy, and Support.
Black Faculty and Staff Association
The purpose of the Black Faculty and Staff Association shall be to promote a sense of community, professional welfare and development among Black faculty, staff, and students.
Faculty Women of Color

Faculty and Staff Christian Fellowship
FSCF offers support and encouragement to fellow Christian employees on campus. Anyone who would like to enjoy fellowship in a Christian environment is encouraged to participate. We offer a variety of programs including guest speakers, social gatherings, bible study, devotions, and service outreach in our community. Our goal is to provide encouragement to the Appalachian community in the name of Jesus.

Queer and Trans Staff and Faculty
The Queer and Trans Staff and Faculty group is a gathering of folks across the queer and trans/LGBTQ+ spectrum at Appalachian State. Our goal is to provide community, support, and advocacy for queer and trans folks on campus and work to make our campus a more inclusive space.
